Matthew 7:7 says “ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you.” Ask can be translated demand, and we know according to Mark11:23 we do have what we say. That is one kind of prayer, the prayer of faith. We are to seek the will of God, and if we seek Him on that matter, He will fill our hearts with the knowledge of His will for our lives. But when one knocks, they knock because someone is evidently on the other side of the door, and they need that person to open that door for them. There will be no other way for them to enter through that door.

This is what Paul is speaking of in Ephesians 6:19. He asked that the body at Ephesis pray that a door of utterance be open so that he may speak boldly, frankly, unreserved, freely and without the us of figures and comparisons. This door can only be opened by God, and we must ask Him for it. There are variables that have to be addressed for those open doors. In Hebrews 5 Paul had revelation he wanted to utter but the people were immature and unable to receive it. In 1 Corinthians 3 his utterance was restricted due to strife in the church. So in part, as we pray for utterance we must pray for the peoples readiness to receive the revelation the minister has in his heart.

In Colossians 4 Paul again asked for the people to pray that God would open a door of utterance so that he may make the Word manifest. Manifestation certainly can and does mean that the Word would be clear. But it also means that the Word could be preached into manifestation. We should pray and expect healings and miracles to happen while the Word is being preached. I have had financial miracles take place as the Word was being preach. We want God to open a door of utterance for the manifestation of the Word.

So pray for your Pastor, and the ministers of the Word, that God would open a door of utterance in order for the people to receive the preached Word, that the Word may come forth at a higher level and that there will be manifestation of the Word preached.

In Luke 19:40 Jesus said if the people did not praise Him, the rocks would cry out. Cry out in the Thayers dictionary means to cry or pray for vengeance. In Matthew 21:15-16, the Pharisees were upset with the people praising Jesus, but Jesus responded with a quote from Psalm 8:2 and said God has perfected praise in the mouth of babes. When you turn to Psalms 8:2 it actually says in the KJV “Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger” Strength in the Hebrew means praise, might, power, and strength. Still means to cause to desist, to cease, to cause to fail. As you intercede for your family, the body of Christ, your community, be sensitive to the river of the Spirit. There will be times He will want to lead you in a river of praise and worship regarding what He has said about the situation. We know no weapon will prosper when we stand in faith on God’s Word. And sometimes that Word will be executed in our praise and worship. And remember praise is a high form of faith, for it is our rejoicing and thanksgiving for what we know God has done. Praise and worship is a very powerful force of the Spirit. Sometimes God has led with a stone and a slingshot, sometimes it was a march around a city. But in 2 Chronicles 20 when Jehoshaphat was faced with the enemy God’s plan was to sing and praise. And as they did, God sent out ambushments which defeated the enemy and the people of God were 3 days recovering the spoil. Be prepared to intercede with your praise and worship. “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand.” Psalms 149:6

Acts 11:14 and 16:31 guarantees us the salvation of our family members. We have the promise of the fulness of all salvation is for our families. Salvation being the covenant plan of God for our lives.

Genesis 7

is a type of family salvation when we see Noah and his entire family coming into the ark.

Abraham believed God for Lot and his family. And we find the angels in Genesis 19:15&16 being quite forceful to see that Abraham gets what he believed God for.

1 Corinthians 7:14

in the Amplified says:

For the unbelieving husband is set apart (separated, withdrawn from heathen contamination, and affiliated with the Christian people) by union with his consecrated (set-apart) wife, and the unbelieving wife is set apart and separated through union with her consecrated husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean (unblessed heathen, [outside the Christian covenant), but as it is they are [b]prepared for God [pure and clean].

In the KJV it says your spouse and children are sanctified by your life. That means they are consecrated and marked by God. Therefore the devil has no right to touch them. They do not come under the devils influence, but under the influence of God. And when the righteous believer stands on that promise and exercises their authority the people rejoice. Your righteousness which is of God sets everything right.

Matthew 16:19 says:

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

This lets us know God will give you specific words which will be keys to lock and unlock when interceding. This is the sword of the Spirit. So stay before God, stand in your authority and watch the vision for your family unfold.

Prayer will give a place to dig a well.

Paul said in Philippians 1:19 For I know this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. The prayer of the intercessors supplied a well of the Holy Spirit he could draw from to turn his situation around.

Men and women have giftings and callings down on the inside of them. Some have their wells stopped up with debris the world has thrown at them. Some have their wells stopped up with fear, no direction, distractions, not making the right connections and so on.

Our Lord Jesus told Peter in Luke 22:31-32 that He had interceded for him due to an attack of the devil He saw coming. And in John 21:3 we find Peter ready to turn his back on the call of God. But…in verses 15-17 we see him being turned around. What came before the turn around? Intercession did.

God has a set place, a position for each member of the body (1Cor 12:18). And we need each member to take his or her place.

Paul said he was travailing in prayer for the Galatians, so that the anointings would be formed within them (Galatians 4:19).

Epaphras prayed always, with out ceasing and he put forth much effort. So that each member of the body he was assigned to would stand complete and fully equipped in his calling.

(Col 4:12)Through intercession we can move the body forward in her assignment in this world. Spirit led prayers brings forth tremendous power for the body of Christ.

Zechariah 12:10And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and supplication…

In September 1857 Jeremiah Lamphier began an afternoon prayer meeting in Old North Church. In a very short time this prayer meeting outgrew two large churches. It quickly spread across the country and prayer meetings were common place. Businesses would close for prayer meetings. Sinners would come to these meetings and be saved. An obvious spirit of prayer had been poured upon the body of Christ.

2 Chronicles 7:14

lets us know God’s people are to show humility and on purpose pray and seek God. In doing so, God will heal our land.

We are to be diligent (crave, require) in our seeking of Him. This will be rewarded. Hebrews 11:6. Rewarded with what? With what ever we diligently seek Him on. Zechariah says to ask for rain in the time of rain. Now is the time for revival rain.

Let us continue in a disciplined, on purpose prayer life. But let us seek for, ask, and expect a spirit of prayer to be poured upon us. In this outpouring of grace, prayer will once again spread across our land. This is the confidence we have, if we ask anything according to His will, then we know He hears us. If He hears us, then we know we have the petitions we have asked of Him. 1John 5:14-15

God’s answer to our intercession will be Zechariah 10:1 - Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. Bright clouds being the manifested glory of God!

1 Corinthians 12:31 lets us know there is a more excellent way to operate in the gifts. 1 Corinthians 13 begins speaking to us about love, and what love does. Then we come to vs. 12 which states “For now we see through a mirror in dimness, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will fully know even as I also was fully known.”

This word “mirror” is the same word “glass” or “mirror” used in 2 Corinthians 3 and James 2 when referring to the Word of God.

We are growing in progressive revelation of His Word. The subject of 1 Corinthians 13 is love. When that which is perfect comes, which is speaking of perfected love, we will know no longer in part. 1 John 4 lets us know perfect love cast out fear. As we grow in love we can look into the Word, and see in the spirit more clearly.

1 Corinthians 3:1-3shows us a body that is in infant status and can only receive partial revelation. This causes me to think of 1 Corinthians 13:11 when he speaks of infants who think and reason as infants, but maturity causes baby thoughts to cease. Our measurement of maturity is not in our gifts, but in our love walk.

The important key here, is for us to focus and grow in love. We will see to the level we love. And now is a time that we need accuracy in our spiritual sight and hearing.

As an intercessor you want to see & hear accurately so you may pray with precision. Grow in love and increase what God can show you. God is a God of detail, and He desires to show you details.

Isaiah 21:5-8 (Message)

The banquet is spread,

the guests reclining in luxurious ease,

eating and drinking, having a good time,

and then, “To arms, princes! The fight is on!”

The Master told me, “Go, post a lookout.

Have him report whatever he spots.

When he sees horses and wagons in battle formation,

lines of donkeys and columns of camels,

Tell him to keep his ear to the ground,

note every whisper, every rumor.”

Just then, the lookout shouted,

“I’m at my post, Master,

Sticking to my post day after day

and all through the night!

I watched them come,

the horses and wagons in battle formation.

I heard them call out the war news in headlines:

‘Babylon fallen! Fallen

And all it precious god-idols

smashed to pieces on the ground.’”

2 Chronicles 7:14 says”If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Only if the people of God pray, will God heal the land. Prayer brings about the healing of peoples lives; their finances, health, family relationships, ministries and etc.

If there is little prayer there will be little healing (to mend, repair thoroughly, make whole).

No wait before you put up a wall. I know it takes the Word and faith in His Word. I did not leap off the ship of faith. But the ministry of the Word takes hold because prayer has come forth. And it is better if it comes forth first.

When we look at Epesians 6:10-20, and take a close look at the armour, we see each piece of the armour is the Word. And with the Word we are dressed for battle. Then look at verse 18, it says ” Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” and vs. 19 “And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,”. Paul is asking for prayer for the people, and for him, that there will be a free flow of the Word, and that the people may receive the Word. He wrote to the Corinthians, telling them they were babes and could not receive meat due to strife. That was a prayer need. He mentioned in Hebrews he could not give them meat due to their inmaturity. That was a prayer need. Then there are the first three soils in the parable of the sower. The people need intercession made for them.

It is very necessary that you pray for your Pastor’s ministry of the Word, and pray for the congregation to grab hold of the Word. Paul taught us to pray this way, “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know…” Ephesians 1:17-18

But all these things, one and the same Spirit worketh, dividing to every one according as he will.

These passages let us know there are different administrations and operations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gifts were not intended to be confined to the church service. Some of us have come far along enough to realize God wants to use the gifts on the streets and in the market place for the purpose of evangelism.

But we must understand God would like to move in the gifts of the Spirit in the place of prayer also.

When we pray, God may bring forth a Word of Wisdom or Word of Knowledge concerning an individual, event, ministry, or government. It would be a door of utterence in the Spirit realm He has granted you. As you obey this inner unction and give voice to this Wisdom or pray according to the Word of Knowledge, a tremendous supply of the spirit is given on the behalf of someone. The Wisdom would be a solution to a situation. The Word of Knowledge on the other hand, would be you being privy to information you had no way of knowing on your own. This information is not revealed for the purpose of gossip, but for the purpose of prayer.

In the place of prayer you may be interceding and suddenly have a knowing in you that you have no doubt whatsoever, that the answer has come for a very impossible situation. And this would be beyond your “normal” sphere of faith. This would be the gift of faith.

In the place of intercession it is not uncommon for the gifts of healing or working of miracles to come in play. I have heard testimonies of someone being in prayer and experience a pain in an area of their body, in which they prayed till the pain was gone. There was not a problem in their body, but someone else had that infirmity. But God, through the intercessor healed them.

Tongues and interpretation of tongues are equivilant to prophecy. Most intercessors have experienced both in the place of prayer. God will give utterance in a tongue and understanding to proclaim future events.

Discerning of spirits are quite common in intercession. We are dealing with the spirits of men. Some yield themselves to wrong spirits, and have to be dealt with. The hope is that the individual goes free. For certain the body must be protected.

The gifts of the Spirit are for the profit of the Body of Christ. I urge you intercessor, to expect and be sensitive to the Spirit. Let Him use you in the gifts as you take on your assignmet of prayer.

James 5:16 says: Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The Amplified says: The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in it working].

I want to focus on the hearfelt, earnest, fervent prayer. Every move of God, first had a group of prayers who trully, earnestly prayed for, wanted, and expected revival.

Whether praying in tongues, or praying in agreement with His Word, It is to easy to get mundane in our prayers. It is to easy push the automatic button and pray out of our heads, and become detached from our praying. Our prayers are to be heartfelt, something we can actually believe. God draws nigh to those who draw nigh to Him. Revival is coming to a people who earnestly want revival. He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him Hebrews 11:6.

In Galatians 4:19 Paul said: My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.

Paul was speaking of place in prayer where some in the body of Christ, need the anointed One and His anointing once again fashioned in them. And He said he travailed for them. Travail literally means to experience the pains of birth. I am not speaking of a physical pain. But there is a coming forth out of the depths of our spirit, that produces an effect on someone else. In Romans 8:26 Paul speaks of groanings which cannot be uttered. Again there is a place in prayer that comes from deep within our spirits that will produce the will of God in the body Christ.

I believe that due to abuse and flakiness in intercession some have backed off from the Holy Spirit prayers that Paul taught us. We must be desirous for revival. You gotta want it. Let the Holy Spirit lead you and do not get stuck in a rut. Let your prayers be heartfelt, earnest, fervent.
